Meet Yosemite Sam

On a girls' trip in June of 2024, my niece and I came across a little soul in need near Yosemite National Park. That’s how we found Yosemite Sam, alone, crying, and painfully malnourished. His fragile, bony frame and heartbreaking "ow" meows were the cries of a kitten desperate for help.

Despite his rough start, this clever little guy quickly realized he was safe with us and began to show his sweet, affectionate side. With no local rescues available to take him in, a dear friend volunteered to foster him, and we brought him back to the San Francisco Bay Area. He found a temporary home with her and soon joined the incredible rescue organization, Community Concern for Cats. They provided him with everything he needed – a thorough check-up, deworming, vaccinations, and neutering. This amazing group goes above and beyond to help cats in need, and we’re so grateful for their support.

Under my friend's loving care, Sammy thrived. He gained weight, turned into a playful, cuddly kitten, and even started hanging out with her big dogs! Just two months after his rescue, on August 4th, he was adopted at an adoption day hosted by Community Concern for Cats. Considering the competition – over 300 cats, most of them kittens, in the foster care system – it was no small feat. But Yosemite Sam’s sweet charm won over his new family.

While I'll miss visiting him, he will always have a special place in my heart. This experience has ignited a passion within me to do more for animal rescues, and I know it’s just the beginning. Yosemite Sam's story is the first of many, and I’m committed to helping more fur babies find their furever homes.
